Dräger PSS® 5000 NFPA-Certiﬁed SCBA

The Dräger PSS 5000 SCBA provides many of the advantages of the PSS® 7000 at a lower cost. Still ergonomic and comfortable, the waist belt is stable, allowing the wearer to twist and turn with ease.

Made of the same flame-resistant and rubberized materials, quick disassembly (and reassembly) and detailed cleaning of this Dräger SCBA is just as easy.

Available in one size, the PSS 5000 fits most and is certified to the 2019 Edition of NFPA 1981 and 1982.

The Dräger PSS 5000 SCBA is designed to withstand the high wear and tear that firefighters face daily – while providing an enhanced level of comfort and functionality. Made of tough chloroprene rubber material and Aramid-blend webbing, the PSS 5000 harness is ideally suited for extended wear and frequent use.
The flexible harness connects to a lightweight, stable back plate, while the waist belt pivots to reduce pressure on the wearer.
To minimize the risk of damage or snagging, the Dräger Sentinel 7000 electronic system and air-supply hoses are integrated into the backplate. To further streamline and reduce snag hazards, the lung-demand valve (LDV) - and Dräger Sentinel hoses are routed over the shoulders. Conventional waist-mounted hoses can also be fitted to the carrying system, making the Dräger PSS 5000 one of the most versatile SCBA systems available.
The following features keep Dräger PSS 5000 downtime and maintenance costs to a minimum:
- Innovative slide-and-lock mechanism for fast and easy harness assembly and disassembly
- Harness detaches from the backplate without the use of tools
- First stage reducer snap-fit connection allows pneumatics to be fitted or removed quickly and easily
- Hose clips push in and out to allow swift removal of hoses from the harness pads for cleaning
- Chemical-resistant harness and waist belt design prevent excessive water absorption and reduce cleaning and drying time
- Standard AA batteries, no manufacturer-required overhaul, and few replacement parts contribute to a lower total cost of ownership over the life of the SCBA

Dräger Sentinel 7000—Real-time monitoring
The Sentinel 7000 electronic monitoring system provides options to satisfy the needs of any fire department. Incorporating a centralized power supply and pressure sensor module within the backplate, the robust system combines maximum component protection with balanced weight distribution for reduced physical stress.
Housed in impact-resistant, water-resistant casings, the Sentinel 7000 demonstrates excellent reliability on the fire ground.
An electronic gauge provides real-time monitoring of essential information, including:
- A personal alert safety system (PASS) device
- Intuitive push-button operation for ease of use
- Configurable settings to suit individual preferences
- Data logging for improved post-incident analysis
- Accurate, continuously updated digital display of pressure and time to EOSTI activation (time based on dynamic breathing rate)
- Battery status display
- 360° visual and audible alarms triggered when the PASS is activated
- Automatic self-tests and system tests
The Dräger FPS®-COM 7000 provides standalone hands-free communication along with optional connection to tactical radios. Voice-activated, the FPS-COM 7000 provides full-duplex communication on one of seven user-selected channels. Up to 10 users per channel can be connected without using a tactical radio, which is especially ideal for special operations like hazardous materials response teams.
